Capabilities and processing
Enter a name or paste SOA records (dig or zone file lines). A name is sent to our server, which asks a public resolver; pasted records are read in your browser.
The SOA record field by field: primary nameserver, contact mailbox, serial (and the date it encodes), refresh, retry, expire and negative-caching TTL, each timer checked against RFC 1912. Below the apex, the zone’s SOA is shown with a note.
Example workflow
The sample zone uses a date-based serial and timers in range. Break it shows timers out of range and a malformed record.
Limits and interpretation
Providers often set their own timers; they are reported, not judged wrong, when they fall outside the usual ranges. Nothing is stored.
