# DNS Lookup

Look up any DNS record (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, SRV, CAA, PTR, DS, DNSKEY, TLSA) through Cloudflare, Google or Quad9 over HTTPS, or straight from the authoritative nameserver. Like dig, online.

## Capabilities and processing

Enter a name, pick the record type and the server to ask: Cloudflare, Google or Quad9 over DNS over HTTPS, or the zone’s authoritative nameserver over TCP. Pasted dig output is read in your browser.

The page shows the answer with TTLs, the response status and flags (AD when DNSSEC validated), the authority section when there is no answer, and the answer in dig’s format to copy.

## Example workflow

The sample domain answers as a resolver would. Break it shows a name that does not exist, a zone whose DNSSEC is broken (SERVFAIL, with an option to ask the authoritative server) and a dangling alias.

## Limits and interpretation

A public resolver answers from its cache, so a recent change can take until the TTL runs out to appear. Nothing is stored.
